Alpha Lumen Institute and CloudWalk Announce the Winners of the 2025 Brazilian Technology Olympiad
The Olimpíada Brasileira de Tecnologia (OBT – Brazilian Technology Olympiad) announced the winners of its fourth edition last Friday (18), during the closing ceremony of the Semana da Escola Avançada de Tecnologia (Advanced School of Technology Week – Semana EAT).

Held in Jacareí and São José dos Campos, São Paulo, the competition brought together more than 540 students from public and private schools across 16 Brazilian states. Over several months, these students developed and presented tech-based projects focused on social impact. The initiative is led by the Alpha Lumen Institute, supported by MIT Brazil, and sponsored by CloudWalk.
The winning teams were: EcoRadar, from the public school Professor Sebastião Vasconcelos Sobrinho in Tianguá (CE); Sunflower, from the public school Engenheiro Lauro Diniz in Recife (PE); Aritméticos do Café, from the private school Interativa in Guaxupé (MG); and π=3, from the private school Colégio Motiva LTDA in Campina Grande (PB).
- EcoRadar was awarded for developing an app that uses NASA satellite data to identify wildfire outbreaks in real time across Brazil, alerting users to imminent environmental risks.
- Sunflower created a mobile app to foster inclusion of autistic children and raise awareness among families and communities.
- Aritméticos do Café presented a platform to expand prenatal care access in underserved regions and reduce misinformation around reproductive health.
- π=3 built an app that supports the proper disposal of recyclables and electronics by connecting users with collection points and empowering waste pickers.
As a prize, the winning teams will be invited to visit the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States—an immersive experience at one of the world’s leading hubs of science and innovation.
Technology as a Driver of Transformation
OBT 2025 received thousands of applications and selected, through multiple evaluation phases, the projects with the greatest potential for positive impact. Topics included health, safety, education, urban mobility, sustainability, and social rights. The thematic and geographic diversity of the winning projects underscores the potential of Brazilian youth to use technology creatively, empathetically, and purposefully to address real challenges in their communities.
“These students leave here with their minds expanded—and when they return to their schools and communities, they multiply that energy. That’s how we spark a wave of transformation through education. With CloudWalk’s support, this movement grows stronger and reaches even more of the invisible talent spread across the country” said Nuricel Aguilera, founder of the Alpha Lumen Institute.
Hanna Souza, a Brazilian sophomore in chemical engineering at MIT and a former EAT participant, spent the week interacting with the teams. “It’s amazing to see how much these students grow through opportunities like this. It’s not just about tech skills—it’s about personal evolution. They leave here believing they truly can make a difference,” she said.
Semana EAT: Knowledge, Inspiration, and the Future

Semana EAT offered students a deep dive into the world of technology through more than 60 workshops, mentorship sessions, and interactive activities with experts in fields such as artificial intelligence and aerospace engineering. CloudWalk hosted hands-on sessions covering everything from low-code solutions to advanced AI agents, challenging students to build intelligent systems that streamline tasks and save time.
Gabriel Bernal, Chief Experience Officer at CloudWalk, shared his own story as a former public school student, encouraging participants to use technology with focus and discipline. “When I was a teenager, with limited resources and studying in a public school, what helped me level the playing field was the computer my mom bought with great sacrifice. Today, the game-changer for your generation is artificial intelligence. Use it with focus and discipline—you can achieve anything.”
He concluded: “Supporting the OBT means investing in the future of our country. Seeing so many young people bringing forward relevant, well-structured, and high-impact ideas inspires us and reinforces our mission to democratize access to innovation.”
